- Easy sizing of the internal headband to accommodate a liner or to simply tighten the fit to keep the hat on in the wind.
- Allows the outer shell to be held away from the head a bit, maintaining air flow and therefore greater comfort and vapor exhaust through the GORE-TEX® membrane.
- 1-inch wide elastic in headband.
- A two-inch length of elastic in the Cinch-Band increases comfort at the band by stretching a small distance.
Foam-stiffened brim:
- In addition to the obvious structure benefits of foam in the brim, it also allows this hat to float if blown overboard.
Hook and loop tabs on crown and brim:
- Brim can be fastened on one side of crown or both when greater visibility, ventilation, or style is needed.
Brushed tricot lining:
- Spreads perspiration rapidly over its surface to aid in more rapid exhaust of vapor through the GORE-TEX® crown.

Removable drawcord under chin:
- When it's windy the chin cord keeps the hat from flying overboard. For less intense situations, it can easily be untied from the loops above the ears.
- Long enough so the hat can be dropped down onto the upper back.
Longer brim in back than in front:
- Keeps water from running down your neck; yet, not so long that it gets in the way of a backpack.
- When the sun comes out the neck is protected from being burned.
