Duckback Durable Water Resistant Finish
Duckback Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finishes on fabrics and zippers give long life to waterproof technologies. The addition of an enhanced hydrophobic treatment enables the DWR to adhere to materials for an extremely extended lifetime. Like water off a ducks back!

Reversed zippers
The objective was to designate specific areas where abrasion is most prominent. In applications such as Climbing, Mountaineering and Skiing abrasion can take its toll, not only on a garment in use, but on the overall performance of the user. We found by simply flipping a zipper over the outcome is a smooth, abrasive resistant feature.

Soft Shell Garments
Soft shell garments combine the reliable protection of a shell with the comfort of a mid-layer. These jackets and pants keep the enthusiastic comfortable without the need for bulky, restricting layers, making them ideal for most active pursuits and weather conditions. The North Face's soft shell garments are made with unique, soft, quiet stretch fabrics that are highly abrasion resistant and allow for a wide range of motion. Magic Seam™ Technology
Magic Seam™ is a procedure where the fabric is hot cut and the seams are welded edge to edge using state-of-the-art rotary sonic and line-bonding machinery. To increase durability and strength, a soft, flexible 10 mm seam tape has been applied along the welded seams. There are three main benefits: 1) waterproofness 2) ultra lightweight and compressibility, and 3) comfort.
