Patagonia knows that manufacturing clothing impacts the environment but rather than resigning themselves to this fact, they’ve found inspiration in it. They innovate, find new solutions to long-standing problems, they test, refine, research and bring to market new materials and processes that reduce their impact.
These efforts have resulted in Patagonia’s use of post-consumer recycled Synchilla® fleece, organic cotton and lower impact dyes. Patagonia’s Footprint Chronicles also demonstrate their transparency and accountability in the face of a planet with depleting resources and vastly differing working practices.
With this in mind, as we enjoy the UK summer, ever wondered where all our fizzy pop bottles go after we’ve binned them? Patagonia uses them to get chipped down then re-extruded as polyester fibres to start a new life in new Patagonia products. It’s always better to re-use rather than recycle of course and at Countryside Ski & Climb we think careful little actions of the individual are as important as big ones by companies. Cheers!
