Security [ top ]

At Countryside, we take online security very seriously. So seriously that none of our customers have ever reported fraudulent use of a credit or debit card as a result of purchases made with us. Our secure transaction system uses the Sage Pay system from Sage, the leading supplier of business management software and services. Sage Pay provides a secure payment gateway (Level 1 PCI DSS), processing payments for thousands of online businesses, including ours. It is Sage Pay's utmost priority to ensure that transaction data is handled in a safe and secure way. Sage Pay uses a range of secure methods such as fraud screening, I.P address blocking and 3D secure. Once on the Sage Pay systems, all sensitive data is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards. Sage Pay is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant to the highest level and maintains regular security audits. They are also regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities to ensure that their systems are impenetrable. Sage Pay is an active member of the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) that defines card industry global regulation. In addition, you know that your session is in a secure encrypted environment when you see https:// in the web address, and/or when you see the locked padlock symbol alongside the URL. So when buying through our site, you can be sure that you are completely protected.

In addition to these security measures, Countryside only requests authorisation for the transaction value from your card issuer and does not charge your card until the point where the goods are actually dispatched to you. We understand that many of our customers have experienced frustrations with other sites who charge cards without having goods in stock. The pre-authorisation process with 'charge on dispatch' that Countryside has adopted is similar to how hotel bookings work.

Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014 [ top ]

This legislation offers you the following cancellation rights when you buy online or by phone:

You are entitled to cancel your contract if you so wish, provided that you exercise your right no longer than 14 days after the day on which you receive the goods.

Your right to return or cancel products does not apply to goods that have been clearly personalised or which by reason of their nature cannot be returned or are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly. This doesn't affect your statutory rights if goods are faulty or not as described.

If you wish to exercise your right of cancellation, you are obliged to retain possession of the goods and take reasonable care of them.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel your contract by a clear statement, including details of your name, geographical address, details of the order you wish to cancel and, where available, your phone number and email address.

You can cancel by email or call 01438 353086, or write to: Customer Services, Countryside Ski & Climb Ltd, 118-120 High Street, Stevenage, Hertfordshire. SG1 3DW

If you decide to cancel, you should return the goods to us at your cost within 14 days of such cancellation, and we will reimburse to you (by the method used to pay for the original transaction) the amount in relation to goods to which cancellation rights apply. This includes any contribution made by you to the cost of delivery.

We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you, damaged packaging or soiling. We will make the reimbursement no later than 14 days after the day we receive back from you any goods supplied.

Returns [ top ]

You can return a product for a full refund or exchange within 28 days. The return's process is simple. All you need to do is fill out the Return/Exchange form that was included with your order. On that form, it has our return address and instructions. The item(s) must be returned in a new and unused condition along with its packaging, original labels, a copy of the original receipt and the return/exchange form filled in describing the reason for return. We do not cover the cost of return postage. We recommend sending it back to us via a Royal Mail Tracked service (usually an orange label) to guarantee safe delivery, they should also supply you with a tracking receipt. Please note that it is not necessary to pay for a 'Signed for' service, but tracking is highly recommended. Please note we will only refund the original card used, Countryside does not provide cash refunds unless you purchased by cash in store. For hygiene reasons, Countryside cannot accept underwear garments for refund or exchange unless they have not been worn.

Guarantees [ top ]

Unless stated otherwise, all items sold by Countryside come with a twelve (12) month manufacturer warranty from the date of the original purchase. Where an item comes with a Lifetime Warranty it is for the lifetime of the item, not the owner or user. This guarantee covers defective material, workmanship and/or parts. It does not cover faults caused by normal wear or tear, inappropriate usage of the item(s), accidental damage, neglect, or misuse. To return an item under warranty, please return the item along with a copy of the original purchase receipt and a description of the fault to the address below. For health and safety reasons, please ensure that the item is returned to us clean and free from dirt. In the case of stoves, or any other device that uses fuels to operate, they must not contain any fuel or fuel residue.

Delivery [ top ]

Countryside recognises the frustration that many online retailers cause by taking orders for items they do not stock, or are awaiting stock. Countryside commits to only take orders for items we have available for shipment at the time of the order. If an item is unavailable, we will treat your order as an ‘enquiry’ and respond as soon as possible with accurate delivery information. This allows you to make an informed decision as to whether you would like to order that item from us, based on its availability. All items are dispatched using a secure and insured delivery service. We use Royal Mail Tracked 24-Hour Service and for certain larger items, a DPD courier service. Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays are not DPD or Royal Mail working days. We will inform you by email when your goods are out for delivery and the message will contain a link to allow you to track your consignment via the Royal Mail Tracked 24 or DPD Predict service. If you provide a Mobile number, you should also receive an SMS text message.

Ski hardware purchases [ top ]

Since 1978, Countryside has prided itself on providing the best products with excellent service. Part of this service is the extensive knowledge our staff have built up over the years, allowing them to match your needs and requirements with our comprehensive range of ski equipment. Boots and bindings in particular require fitting by properly trained technicians. We strongly urge you to visit our store where our trained technicians will ensure you receive the right equipment, correctly matched and fitted for your requirements.

Every ski with bindings needs to be carefully set for each individual and their ski boots. If you purchase skis in our store, this is done before you leave. By purchasing skis online you accept full liability and responsibility for ensuring their correct configuration as Countryside cannot do this without you and your boots being present. You are welcome to bring skis purchased online from us, along with your boots, to the store where we would be happy to set them up free of charge. Alternatively, a qualified ski shop near you should also be able to provide this service, but they may make a charge.
